New Beginnings = New Job = New Team & Boss

I know that the suspense is killing you… lol I can finally say that i’ve signed the paperwork for my new job. This was actually completed a week or so ago but i wanted to take a few days to clear my head before i announced to the world! Hahaha

For obvious reasons i won’t share the name of the company but i can share other details such as role, industry, why i accepted the offer, my impression of the team & new manager and what i am looking forward to in my new day-to-day. Sounds good?

Before i get into the details, let me just refresh your memory on why i was looking for a new job to begin with. If you’ve followed my story you know that i made a decision in November last year to end a partnership with my then employer. I chose to leave due to unhealthy working conditions. Since then i’ve done a few things: traveled to Sweden and Iceland (visited the Blue Lagoon!!!), met with Google, Oath, Amazon and a few other not so “big shot” brands. I have been fortunate to receive 3 offers from 3 different companies. All were great opportunities but i chose to decline all 3 of them because they didn’t align with my goals.

My job search continued… Until i heard back from the president at company X who extended offer #4. I accepted!

This particular company is very interesting to me. It’s a legacy brand that’s going through a re-branding phase. After being a prominent print publication serving the affluent audience across America and around the world for a couple of decades, they’ve pivoted and are now investing in digital (been doing so for the past few years). When i met with the team it was clear that every single individual was enthusiastic about the future. Their motivation motivated me! I met with a total of 5 people. I enjoyed speaking and interviewing all of them.

As much as they are interviewing me, i am also interviewing them (i had even prepared specific questions to each person, their department and field).

My role is Director of Digital Sales, and the goals for this role are pretty ambitious but i’m up for the challenge! What makes me ok with the entire situation is the fact that i’ll be reporting to the president who appears to be a good person. As my role revealed, i will be continuing my career in digital. I love this industry. It’s relatively young and ever evolving and i’m genuinely interested in “what’s next”. Digital/ad tech/mar tech/technology… All in my space! =)

What i look forward to the most is the opportunity to be part of an early stage team. If i play my cards right i’ll have a chance to impact and influence early on. I am also excited about getting back in the game in general. I’ve missed it. A lot. I know there will be struggles… Oh yea.. it will have it’s [very] tough days… But in the end of the day i know i’ll keep a positive mindset!

So there you have it! My first day is 5/29.
