Websites I visit to stay up-to-date on my industry

websites i visit

I’m in digital/ad tech, which is an ever changing industry and if i don’t keep track on what’s going on i will fall behind. New developments in the industry happen on an almost weekly basis so getting into the habit of reading media tailored to my industry is pivotal for professional success!

Here is a list of good resources i use to keep my knowledge up to par!

  • Saleshacker – This is a great website to get tips and tricks on all things “sales”. In my opinion, sales is an everyday thing. Whether you work in sales or not, it’s still a part of your life.
  • Adexchanger – This website has so much information about my industry and covers topics related to all members of the digital “ecosystem,” including marketers, agencies, publishers, data providers, advertising and marketing technology companies.
  • Wall Street Journal – I usually spend time in the Work/Family section.
  • Digiday – This is probably the best source to get up to date information. You don’t even have to have the subscription in order to take advantage of good information. I’ve only had the free version but i’m sure the paid subscription will give you good value as well.
  • Forbes – A business publication.
  • Adage – Advertising and marketing industry news.
  • PR Newswire – Industry press releases
  • Winmo News – Part of Winmo which is an evolutionary sales intelligence platform. I’d use this platform to 1. read about account specific news, and 2.  build prospecting lists by industry/ad spend etc.
  • CNet – Tracks all the latest consumer technology breakthroughs and shows you what’s new, what matters and how technology can enrich your life.
  • Adweek – The leading source of news and insight serving the brand marketing ecosystem. As a touchstone of the advertising and marketing community, Adweek is an unparalleled resource for leaders across multiple industries who rely on its content to help them do their job better.
  • IAB – Stands for the Interactive Advertising Bureau. IAB develops technical standards and best practices and fields critical research on interactive advertising.
  • Medium – Taps into the brains of the world’s most insightful writers, thinkers, and storytellers to bring you the smartest takes on topics that matter. So whatever your interest, you can always find fresh thinking and unique perspectives.
  • Mobile Marketing Magazine – Mobile marketing and tech news and research.
  • Inc – A magazine that publishes about small businesses and startups.
  • MediaPost – An influential media, marketing and advertising website that provides news, blogs, and directories of the industry.
  • eMarketer – Probably my favorite resource on this list. eMarketer aggregate, filter, organize and analyzes data and provides insights to anyone who wants it. I love how they create visuals too! Even if you choose not to opt in to the paid version, visiting this website on the regular is crucial if you want to take part of trustworthy information.
  • The Muse – If you ever need career advice or if you want to explore different career paths – this is the place for you. Absolutely love this website!

…. the changes will keep coming, the future will continue to be uncertain, the amount of information will increase exponentially – and the need for information you can trust from a source that uses a transparent, consistent process will only increase, too.
