I Declined a Job Offer

The subject line is true – i declined a job offer and i truly feel good about it! It’s so important that you evaluate a job offer based on your own values, what you prioritize in your life!

Red Flags Everywhere

So the way this opportunity came about was not me being out there looking for anew job. I joined a company in the spring and i had no intention of leaving. That said, when an opportunity is presented to you, (in my case it fell into my lap), then you should always go in with an open mind and have the conversation to see if what you’re being offered is for you.

Glass Door Reviews

The red flags started here. The reviews i read on Glassdoor were out of this world. On one hand you had reviews that basically described this company as heaven on earth…And we all know that there is no work place that’s heaven on earth. LOL On the other hand you had reviews that “spoke the truth”, calling out the really good reviews for being fake etc.

“Positive reviews are definitely lies. Stay away from this toxic company!”

Here are a couple reviews, one positive and one negative….You decide which one you think is “speaking the truth!” LOL

Interviews, Personality Test & an Assignment

The initial meeting was with the VP of Talent Acquisition and the internal Senior Tech Recruiter. That went well but the VP was trying to push me into bucket

(role) that just wasn’t for me. I made that very clear. They decided to share my background with the SVP of Operations. Met with her and we had a solid conversation. Her feedback was that she wants me in another bucket but i first need to take an assessment. I scored really high. I then moved on to the next round, which was to create a presentation using data storytelling. The SVP of operations reviewed my presentation and shared it with the Chief revenue

Officer. He liked it as well and wanted to meet with me. Once again i was placed in a bucket i don’t belong in. At that point i had checked out. The ONLY thing that kept me going through the process was the base salary ($150k)! My meeting with the CRO ended ona  great note and i was told

that he would want me to meet with the SVP of sales. In my mind i had already declined the job offer but i figured i’d finish the process to see where it would end. My meeting with the SVP of sales went well…. And this dude placed me in yet ANOTHER BUCKET! All of this back and forth was really annoying. It seemed like no one at this place were ont he same page. Everyone seemed to be thinking differently. On top of that, I wasn’t “feeling the company” very much due to all the poor reviews on Glassdoor!

With all of the above said, i have a previous co-worker and friend who actually worked at this company. I spoke with her in the beginning of the process. She warned me from the get go! I did want to go through the process, no matter what she had to say. I wanted to find out for myself. Which i did! Big time! I feel so good about not accepting the offer, about pulling myself out of the process. I seriously dodged a bullet!
